"My institution is not currently in REN-ISAC, and I want to learn how to join."

Your institution or organzation must meet criteria specified in the Membership Guide:

8.1.1  The institution must be a college or university, teaching hospital, research and education network provider, or government-funded research organization.

And you, the applicant, must be an eligible management representative:

7.2.2  The management representative must be: (A) a CIO, vice president, associate VP, or chancellor, who has been verified by the Membership Committee; (B) a similarly verified CISO who reports directly to A; or (C) a Membership Committee-accepted delegate of A. The delegate must be a manager, with the security function in the subordinate reporting chain. Delegates are identified when A performs institutional registration.

The management representative has responsibilities:

7.2.1  As the steward of membership, the management representative is responsible for nominating member representatives (section 16.0), for the timely maintenance of membership changes, withdrawals, and terminations (section 10.0), and for all other administrative actions.

If you choose to delegate the management representative role

You will need to complete a simple application process in which you enter your contact information and identify the delegate by e-mail address.

Proceed with the application

If you will assume the role of management representative

You will need to:

  1. Read the Charter.
  2. Read the Membership Guide.
  3. Read the Terms and Conditions.
  4. Read the Information Sharing Policy.
  5. Gather information:

    1. e-mail addresses of the individuals who you'll want to nominate as member representatives
    2. url of the institutional organization chart, directory, or other reference that we can use to manually confirm your identity and position at the institution (optional, but highly recommended)
    3. billing information, such as bill-to attention, address, e-mail address, and local identifier (P.O. number?)
  6. Make Agreements. When completing the online application, you'll be required to agree to the Terms and Conditions, and the Information Sharing Policy. The nominated member representatives will also be required to individually agree to the Information Sharing Policy.

Processing the institution application will require approximately five business days. Processing the member representative nominations requires an additional vetting period following completion of the institution application.
