Mark has been Peer (Cybersecurity) Assessment Engagement Manager for the IU-based Research and Education Network Information Sharing and Analysis Center (REN-ISAC) since May 2018. In this role, he developed and manages a program through which teams of seasoned technology and security professionals perform objective, in-depth evaluations of cybersecurity, including security operations, data management, identity management, governance, privacy, policies, and incident response, at universities and colleges. Prior to this role, Mark was Associate Vice President with responsibility for safety and security for Indiana University, including cybersecurity, physical and facilities security, emergency management and incident response, public safety/policing, enterprise risk management, and environmental health/safety. Before joining IU, he spent 8.5 years in the U.S. Air Force.
Mark was co-founder of the REN-ISAC with (then-VP for Information Technology, now IU President) Michael McRobbie and was instrumental in the creation of the IU Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research.
